Moonflower: Datura stramonium
🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑 A powerful. Member of the Solanacea family, datura is famed for the intense delerium that its toxic tropane alkaloids can produce in humans. These otherworldly effects have made datura part of initiation ceremonies recorded in many societies including being a traditional ingredient in witches flying ointment. Its exquisite white flowers bloom at night, alluding to datura's dark nature. Datura dilated the bronchioles of the lungs, so is a valuable remedy for asthma. In the UK, datura is now on the Schedule 20 list of restricted medicines only administered only by herbal practitioners as the wrong dose can be fatal.

Inspired by the Moonflower, my moon calendars have been printed locally in Cornwall at Mount Pleasant Eco Park on their low-impact risograph machine. Gold and blue ink on black recycled paper milled in Devon.
